Job Summary:

As a Mechanical Engineering Co-Op for Constellium Muscle Shoals, you are given a project that is directly linked to the manufacturing and production of our products. Constellium values the quality of its products as it plays a large role in fulfilling the needs of our customers.

 

Job Roles and Team Exposure:

The Mechanical Engineering Co-Op is expected to work during the spring or fall semester in one of our manufacturing units at the Ravenswood, WV facility. With an assigned mentor, this role will explore a wide variety of opportunities within and outside of the facility. Their main project would involve a cross-functional team that would include several of the following groups:

  • Mechanical engineering team
  • One or more of our 5 manufacturing units (Recycling, Casting, Hot Rolling, Cold Rolling & Sheet Finishing)
  • Process Engineers, Managers, Supervisors, Operators & technicians, Maintenance, Engineering, Plant wide mechanical technicians
  • This provides insight to several different career paths engineers can take

 Responsibilities will likely include:

  • Collaborating with assigned team to complete tasks/project development as needed
  • Executing definition, drawing, and spec development
  • Brainstorming new designs and testing designs in a controlled environment/ in the field
  • CAD drawings
  • Taking field measurements and analyzing blueprints
  • Working with vendors for quotes/timelines

 Qualifications:

  • Applicants must be pursuing a degree in Mechanical Engineering Degree.

 About Constellium Muscle Shoals, Al:

Constellium Muscle Shoals is a major aluminum sheet supplier for the packaging and automotive markets. The plant has 1,300 employees and more than 114 acres under roof, including five casting units, hot and cold rolling mills, and a slitting and finishing center. Muscle Shoals produces aluminium sheet for use in all three components of beverage cans (body stock, coated end stock, tab stock) and has the capacity to produce over 1 billion pounds per year of finished aluminium coils. The plant also produces aluminium automotive coils to be processed at our CALP line in Bowling Green, Kentucky. Muscle Shoals’ world-class recycling center is able to recycle the equivalent of 20 billion aluminum cans per year. components can be found in products for Airbus, Boeing, Bombardier, Lockheed Martin, NASA, and others.
