Update Le Valais - August 19, 2024
As of August 19, 2024
The unprecedented situation caused by the flooding in our sites of Sierre and Chippis has seen significant improvement since the incident.
We are pleased to share that, even under challenging circumstances over the past two months, our operations have remained consistent with our safety standards.
In addition to the removal of mud and the cleaning of machinery, recovery teams at both plants have primarily focused on evaluating the condition of the equipment and determining the necessary repairs to restore operations after the significant damage incurred. We are collaborating closely with the original machine manufacturers, industry experts, and consultants to speed up restoring our operational capacity.
Following an extensive review of the recovery plans for Sierre (Extrusions and Plate Shops) and Chippis (Cast House) and based on the information available to us today and our current estimates, we estimate that production lines will restart not earlier than end of October 2024, with the production ramp-up in Sierre and Chippis expected to be completed not earlier than the start of the new year. These dates are estimates and may be subject to change.
We are dedicated to minimizing the potential effects of this temporary disruption in close cooperation with our customers, including transferring production to other Constellium plants where feasible.
We remain fully committed to safely and efficiently resuming production at both facilities as soon as possible. We will continue to provide updates as new information becomes available.
